Why I’m building A1Cue

I have lived with Type 1 diabetes for almost my entire life. A1Cue is being built from those real-life moments — the decisions, habits, support, and education people need between appointments.

I have lived with Type 1 diabetes for almost my entire life. I was diagnosed at 18 months old, which means I do not really remember life without diabetes. Some of my earliest memories are tied to blood sugar checks, insulin, food decisions, highs, lows, and the constant mental math that came with managing this disease.

I grew up in an era of urine strips, finger sticks, NPH and Regular insulin, and eventually moved through multiple stages of diabetes technology — from injections to pumps, CGMs, and now closed-loop systems. I have seen firsthand how far diabetes care has come. The tools are better. The data is better. The technology is more advanced than ever. But in many ways, living with diabetes is still incredibly hard.

Because diabetes is not just a medical condition you check in on a few times a year. It is a daily, hourly, sometimes minute-by-minute experience. It affects how you eat, sleep, exercise, work, travel, parent, socialize, and make decisions. Even with great doctors, modern devices, and access to information, there are still countless moments when you are left figuring it out on your own.

I know what it feels like to stare at a blood sugar number and wonder what to do next. I know what it feels like to be active and still not know exactly how your body will respond. I know what it feels like to be overwhelmed by information, yet still feel like you need practical, real-time guidance in the moment.

And I know that people with diabetes do not just need more data. They need support, education, encouragement, and simple action steps that fit into real life. That is why I started A1Cue.

The simple idea behind A1Cue

A1Cue is being built around a simple idea: diabetes support should be more actionable, more accessible, and more human. The goal is to help people with diabetes and their families take small, meaningful actions throughout the day — whether that is a short walk, a two-minute movement cue, a practical education lesson, or encouragement from a community of people who understand what this life is really like.

Movement

Simple micro-workouts and activity prompts that help people take action in real life, not just learn theory.

Education

Practical, approachable content from diabetes educators and experienced voices, focused on the situations people actually face every day.

Community

A place for people with diabetes, caregivers, and families to feel less alone and more supported.

This is personal for me. I am not building A1Cue because diabetes is a market opportunity. I am building it because I have lived the highs, the lows, the burnout, the fear, the frustration, and the resilience that come with this disease. I also know the difference that the right support at the right time can make.
